I believe that there is a time for a therapist to teach and educate, as well as a time to listen and accept the person as they are. In establishing a therapeutic relationship, I rely on a humanistic philosophy. Once we have established a relationship of trust, I can then begin to use the theories and techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy and family systems therapy to help you do work on your issues.

Below are some aspects of therapy that I practice:
  • Treatment plan development and implementation
  • Specific, measurable goal setting
  • Listening to and validating your experience
  • Examination of your core beliefs and values
  • Helping you to identify and trust your intuition
  • Education on Ellis' ABC therory
  • Thought records
  • Boundary Setting
  • Assertiveness Training
  • Family Tree or Genogram development
  • Family sessions
  • Experiential work such as role-playing, affirmations, journal writing and narrative therapy
  • Collaboration with other professionals as needed (ie: doctors, psychiatrists, nutritionists, and other healing professionals)
  • Relapse prevention skills
